MicroSD vs CompactFlash Size Comparison

Last week I dumped Sprint and signed on with Verizon and got a brand new spiffy phone. I did some research and the Motorolla e815 was one of their best offerings but I’ll post on that a little later. Well my new phone has an expansion slot for a MicroSD card (formally known as TransFlash) and I picked up a 512 MB to load up pictures, songs, ringtones, video etc… on my phone. Here it is side by side with my 512 MB Compact Flash card (which I am about to replace with a 2 GB card. The MicroSD card is just a tad smaller wouldn’t you say.

  1. I always thought the SD / MMC cards were small until I held one of these micro cards, they seem like they would break easily… I’d imagine they’re not designed to be inserted and removed often. The small size is still amazing.

Good luck with that Motorola Phone, I’m done with Motorola… I’ve been unimpressed with their color phones so far (they made fantastic b/w phones).

As far as *geeky* features go usually the samsungs are the most geek friendly, though they tend to be too *hello kitty* in the menu graphics! Good job on dumping sprint though.

  2. The e815 is the most hackable of Verizon’s phone so you don’t have to pay for their multimedia services. I can open up the bluetooth to do file transfers and thus avoid having to take out the card. The samsung a950 and a970 are the only Verizon samsung phones with bluetooth and they cost $100 and $200 more than the e815 did. I didn’t do much research on them so I’m not even sure if they can have as many features opened up or if they include Verizon’s crappy UI which the e815 does not.
